    I'll leave this here...
    Audiolab 6000CDT.

I use mine with a 6K Dac, a power cable that's 3 times its price, and...its in good company.
    Buy with confidence.
User reviews over on Audiogon and Steve Hoffman (American) forums say it leaves the Cyrus in its wake.

Did a LOT of research before i bought one, spent a lot of money (previously) on my "final" music CD spinner https://theartofsound.net/forum/show...ajor-Oppo-mods
but the Audiolab kept getting my attention, and it sounds better playing CDs.
Its a future classic IMO, astonishing sounding thing, highly recommended.

    Hope this helps.

Yes the Audiolab will give you everything that is on the CD. I'm not exactly using mine with a load of tat either and I'm more than happy with it.

Equating price with sound quality often a mistake especially with digital.

Well that just about says it all, if it’s anything like my 8300cdq then it’s a going to sound great, just plug it into a reasonable DAC and off you go.
Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

Analog Inputs: Pro-Ject Signature 10 TT & arm, Benz Micro LP-S, Michel Cusis MC, Goldring 2500 and Ortofon Rondo Blue cartridges, Hitachi FT5500 mk2 Tuner

Digital:- Marantz SA-KI Pearl CD player, RaspberryPi/HifiBerry Digi+ Pro, Buffalo NAS Drive

Amplification:- AudioValve Sunilda phono stage, Krell KSP-7B pre-amp, Krell KSA-80 power amp

Output: Wilson Benesch Vector speakers, KLH Ultimate One Headphones

Cables: Tellurium Q Ultra Black II RCA & Chord Epic 2 RCA, various speaker leads, & links

I think I am nearing audio nirvana, but don’t tell anyone.

If you're using an external DAC, it would be the Teac VRDS for me every time. Superb transports and ultra high build quality. Or the Pioneer variants (PD Reference models) for that matter.

Vintage now though so you've got longevity to consider. That's why I bought new this time even though it's against my religion. I figure that will give me the maximum amount of time before I have to replace it again.

I did look at CD players around a grand to fifteen hundred but there was nothing that took my fancy and they all seemed a bit over-priced. For that money I want battleship build quality.

Reading around the Audiolab 6000CDT last night and quite a few reports of players skipping during playback and being returned. Anyone know anything about this?

    OK, The deed is done.

Phoned my local Richer Sounds and excercised a price match against the Peter Tyson price of £304. They ageed and gave me a further £10 off because they liked the cut of my jib

So all in, it was £294 in silver, sealed box with 2 yr gaurantee.

Thanks for all your help and guidance.
