    Default ebay DAC

I just took the cover off my cheapy DAC from ebay.
It uses an NS6000 2001 chip but I cannot find a data sheet for this. Anyone know what it is?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

It looks from the picture that the screen printing on the chip has been rubbed off? If so where did you get the info given in your post?

NS would normally refer to National Semiconductor, but Googling doesn't bring anything up. Is there a link to where you bought the Dac?

    Thanks for the replies.
The numbers are on the chip itself but the flash obliterates it on the photo.
I am just asking for interest.

I think you are right. I am considering a Cambridge Audio Dacmagic 1, 2 or 100 or Dacmagic plus or maybe one of the Beresford DACs. All of which are available (second hand) for about £40 to £50 ish.

If you want a basic second-hand DAC at a sensible price that sounds decent, take a look at the Musical Fidelity V-DAC. It's an effective bit of kit, I have one in my collection.

    Interesting review here: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/f...ty-v-dac.9825/

By the way, I owned all the older Dacmagics at one time or another and found them unimpressive.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
