    I'm Daniel.

    Default Photo sound absorption panels

I also recently made some sound absorption panels. Frame from up-cycled shipping palette wood, 2" Roxul 80 as filler for the regular absorbers, 4" for the corner bass trap, my photos printed on breathable canvas by someone on Etsy, fabric stapled to frame.
    The images are:
    - Black and white spiral thingy: A seed of an orchid (Oberonia sp.) under the scanning electron microscope (Zeiss EVO 40 XVP), part of my ongoing research on systematics of this genus of orchids.
    - Blue and white stripes: Darkfield light micrograph (Zeiss Axioskop 2plus, Zeiss planapo objective) of maple = tone wood in many musical instruments, such as my violas d'amore. Image taken for a multimedia show by baroque orchestra Tafelmusik of Toronto.
    - B&W landscape: Infrared image of a billabong near Canberra, shot with a Zeiss F-Distagon 16 mm, custom modified with three internal IR filters.

Overall picture shows my current listening room. Enjoy!

Hi Daniel, an interesting room. I notice your turntable in the corner which because of bass build-up is usually the worst position in a room. If possible perhaps experiment moving it away some.

I've been thinking about that as well. I hardly ever listen at loud levels, so I think effects are at best minimal. Putting the TT elsewhere is a bit of a problem because the TT is pretty deep. That was the original idea for putting it in the corner with deep recess. I could put a bow out top plate towards the end of the long leg of the L and screw it to the main rack. Splitting the difference between corner and speaker. I made the rack, so no issues with modifying it. I can put the voltage regulators up there, free up some cabinet space for more records :-)

Thanks for nudging me! Though not looking forward to re-cabling everything.
