Default DIY cable pants / y-splitters

I bought new speakers (PearlAcoustics Sibelius SG) and with it also some beefier raw cables (AWG ~5-6) that I made into speaker cords. Two cables go into one 1/2” cable SOCK, which is a PITA to feed through. At the Y-spilt I wanted to make it more presentable with some cable PANTS. I could not use typical rubber shrink tubes as the cables are too thick. There are *audiophlle* metal cable PANTS, but they cost >$60, each!!! Hell NO!

So I went into the yard, picked up some oak branches from the pile, cut them to blanks on the bandsaw, then rounded them on the lathe, sanded and coated in linseed oil, drilled a couple of holes through them, and voilà: bespoke wooden cable PANTS. The California coastal live oak (Quercus agrifolia) matches the French oak of the speaker cabinets. Like in real life, I did not use a TIE. As I connect the speakers bare wire to the posts, cable strain is of no concern, so no need to hold cable in its SOCK up with a cable TIE.

Lovely job, but I think I'd call them clogs not pants.
I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

Thanks Alan! I thought about wood clothing as well and dutch clogs came to mind. Wood pants would be a bit of an issue, Lederhosen are already a tricky business ;-) Y-splitters are also called "cable pants": one in, two out.
