    Default 2nd Question Bi- Wiring

    Here's another question
I have disconnected all my kit for a yearly cleanup and though about Bi-Wiring my AE floorstanders.
Being an old 70s design there's not much space at the speaker posts and it has 3 sets.

This allows A/B/C or A+B or A+C configuration
    .
Could I send the HF from set A, the LF from either Set B or C and then select the appropriate configuration on the selector?

    Thanks again
    Stewart

in theory yes but in practice might be a bit dicey. For stereo amps that can drive multiple speakers the recommendation is not to use speakers with less than 8 ohm impedance when driving two sets at once. So depends on your AE speakers and what sort of load each section of the crossover presents.

Personally I wouldn't, there's nothing to be gained and you might stress the amplifier.

It certainly benefits the people who sell speaker cables. I personally couldn't be arsed with the cost and the extra spaghetti, for what I believe is next to no improvement.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: Zu Omen Def, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Amptastic Mini One,Arcam A75 integrated, Celestion 5's, BK XLS-200 DF

    A/V:

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.

Tried it and there's no bass, so disconnected it.

I've now put both cables into one set of speakers and bi-wired it that way sounds much more like it should, can't tell whether there's an improvement tbh.

What I think I here is theres a lot more bass at the expense of mid range.

Will hook up speakers B or C as standard and see if there's a improvement or not.

Just been listening to Buffalo - The Phoenix Foundation and through the AE's I have to say there's a lot more depth to the music, maybe a placebo effect but will compare in the morning

If your speakers have three sets of terminals (presumably corresponding to three drive units plus the appropriate filter networks), then you can try tri-wiring them.

Depending on the exact design of the speaker and of the crossover network, bi- or tri-wiring can be of some benefit, but in most cases the improvement is small or non-existent. I suspect speaker manufacturers provide this option, simply because it became fashionable some years ago, and it is there to pander to potential customers who expect it.

This: https://theartofsound.net/forum/show...-and-Bi-wiring, may help to explain matters.

Nor me. Much better to spend cash on a higher quality set of single run cables and jumpers.

It was a gimmick and selling point for the speakers and cable. Few speakers now provide this 'facility'.
