Lol - it was a tongue-in-cheek remark, so don't get all bitchy with me, baby!

    Chillax...

No, I don't have all of them, mate. I've *heard* all of them. But yes, I have the vast majority of those albums on some musical format, but a great deal of it I haven't listened to for some time, after having played it to death 'back in the day'!

These days, I mostly prefer listening to something different.

    "Top" based on who's criteria?

Admittedly, some are true 'classics' and worthy of a mention, but these lists are not terribly imaginative and mostly (with a couple of exceptions) the music blokes 'of a certain age' would listen to regularly, and who qualify as unrelenting creatures of habit, with little desire to expand or update their 'musical horizons'

So tell me about 'Trout Mask Replica', and why it always appears in these lists.

But like you, I hate these aspirational "lists": '1001 Things to Do Before You Die'; '1001 Places to Visit Before You Die'; '1001 Natural Wonders of the World to See Before You Die'; '1001 Curries You Should Eat before you Die'; '1001 Positions as Described in the Karma Sutra You Should Try Before You Die', .... . They are there for those who have no imagination, or sense of adventure.

Ha - we're on the same page here!

TMR? Probably the Zappa-esque album cover, which may be seen as somewhat 'out there', and it was from the 'swinging 60s'!

Like you say, there are far better CB albums, such as Unconditionally Guaranteed

It did not come across as ‘tongue-in-cheek’ more as criticism of the thread and those that looked at these type of lists.

As I said I put the thread up for a bit of fun if people were interested. There are lots of albums I would personally include in my top 100 not there, including some more recent, and some in there I would remove, but then it would be my list and not a list of most popular by sales(which I think it is meant to be).

Maybe I should have made it top 100 prog rock albums of all time.

    Happy listening.

Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

heard 63% own about 50% of them - not much for U2, The Clash, Johnny Cash, Van Morrison.

Quite a few I wouldn't include in a top 100 in a million years. I mean U2? Seriously? If I had to include two of theirs - and it would be at gunpoint - it would be 'Boy' and 'War.'

    The Clash are equally over-rated.

'Check' Berry was of course one of Chuck's cousins, along with Marvin.

Trout Mask Replica (got a mint vinyl) is over-indulgent crap, I'd have gone with 'Clear Spot'

'Aja' at least should be in there. Just ludicrous that there are two U2 albums, shit ones too, and no Dan.

And why are there compilation albums? That makes no sense. 'Legend'? - Should be 'Catch A Fire' or maybe 'Uprising.'

Van Morrison? Over-rated. At least they didn't include any Leonard Cohen. Or London fucking Grammar.

Have to stop now it's making me angry.
