our tom cat was like that. Other cats would come in through the cat door and eat the food, and he would be kipping on top of the boiler and ignore them.i had a cat like that
But if you walked in the kitchen he would pretend to suddenly notice them and would then jump down and chase them out. My mother would say to him 'You're fooling no-one!'.

The sky is beginning to look ominous and rain is forecast, so I'd better take Disgusto the dog out for a drag around the block. It found something unspeakable to eat when I took it out yesterday, god knows what it was, but I valued my fingers too much to try and retrieve it. I wouldn't mind if the brute walked properly on its lead, but it doesn't understand that it's supposed to progress ahead rather than every other direction.
