    Default Um, hello

I never do an intro on forums, but I see I have to with AOS.....

I got a pair of LS3/5A from my sister who worked for Chartwell in the 70's. I had a crappy system that I bought in a Xmas sale & naturally enough it didn't sound great. A few years later the Chartwell were taken to a dealer in Edinburgh & Mrs & I demo'd some equipment. The speakers did sound good. We bought Denon & Arcam Alpha that had sounded good in the demo room. Alas, it all sounded nothing special when installed at home.
    Divorce.
    Years go by.
I traded the LS3/5a for a pair of Harbeth C7. The bigger sound was nicer. I had a Creek classic amp & cd player, - both purchases influenced by US write-ups. Both overrated, IMO.
Then a fresh Quad cdp, & new Quad vena amp. I'm about to acquire a customised cdp to try, & thinking of trying another speaker.
    Ho hum......

    Welcome to AoS Gary,

There - that wasn't so hard to do was it? In fact your experience with the Chartwell LS3/5A makes interesting reading, as does your new system.

One more question: what are your tastes in music?

    Enjoy the Forum

    Thanks Barry.

Light rock/pop generally. Looking to expand my listening taste with better equipment to listen with.

Could do with another pair of interconnects.....saw you mention in current thread....I can't enquire though.

    Hello Gary. Welcome to AOS.

The intro gives others a bit of handle on who you are. We like to think of ourselves as a community and in fact quite a few members have got to meet and know each other. Everybody here is friendly and interaction and involvement are encouraged, so join in and have fun.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
