I was taking the piss dude, I completely agree with you that the overwhelming amount of TV coverage this is getting is ludicrous, we aren't all royalists and although it must be a sad time for his family, i don't personally give a fook and aren't interested in hearing about every second of his life.

I stand by what I said. Mike was addressing me not only at the time, but before, and the subject was about him 'moaning' (although I know he was just taking the piss) about how long this thread was going on for, so THAT was predominantly what was on my mind, and why I presumed the self respect comment was aimed at me.

As Kevin's pointed out; it's simply how you interpret what was written, so in this instance there is no right or wrong.

One little tip I'd put forward though, when you're writing something, is always put (or stress) the bit you'd like readers to notice most at the end of a sentence, as that's often that's what they'll remember most (as it was the last thing they read), and therefore will likely respond to

As much as I sympathise with that view and understand it, I don't agree with it.

*Good journalism* should be about reporting the news in a way that YOU (as a journalist or member of the media) think is accurate, justified and measured, and therefore the subsequent coverage delivered is proportional to that, rather than pandering to the 'wants' of the Daily Mail or brainless PC brigade.

Are they who secretly run the country?? I doubt it, so don't appease them; fuck them!

*Good journalism* should be about 'I'll say what I like (as long as it's legal), if I feel it's justified, and above all TRUE, and fuck what the detractors think', which is exactly what I do on here! Be a FREE-THINKER, not a sheep!! BE YOUR OWN MAN, not someone's paid puppet, and STAND UP for what you believe in.

Of course I understand that's not how the media works, but it should be in a genuinely free country, and the fact that it doesn't, is why I've rarely ever bought newspapers or consider as 'gospel' how the mainstream media reports the news, as in reality it simply represents what the system wants
