    Default Synology/LMS/Squeezebox Conundrum

I have a Synology NAS on which I was running Logitech Media Server and using Squeezeboxes.
Unfortunately LMS can no longer run on the NAS, so I can’t access any digital music at present.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so how have you resolved it please?

    Cheers John

My NAS running LMS was forcibly made redundant at the time when Spotify changed their delivery protocols.
The processor in my NAS wouldn't run the required script.

So I shifted server onto a Windows PC and pointed LMS at the NAS.
Since then I've brought a Raspberry Pi and used that to run LMS, again pointing LMS at the NAS.

Many NAS boxes no longer have the processing capability to effectively run LMS, so I suggest the RasPi route.

Thanks Chris - any leads on where I might find instructions on utilising the RPi?

Do you need to have LMS on the same wifi network as SB device?

The piCorePlayer software is an offshoot development by the LMS developers, and if you dig around you'll find a bit about getting Synology NAS drives to play nice, as well as the normal setup stuff.

Sorry but I do not have a NAS but run my LMS on a Raspberry Pi 4 8GB unit as a stand alone music server and it works very well . If you need any help setting one up then message me or just add a thread . It is very easy using a few distros and as simple as anything using the Max2play distro I use.

This has some relevance for you but I admit to me this is just none sense but you may understand what it is saying .

I removed perl and lms from my DS212+ and manually installed previous perl version and downloaded the latest version of lms and installed it. All working again. Had to reinstall some plug-ins but at least it's available again.

I've removed automatic updates so that the perl version isn't updated again.

I'll be investigating alternatives so I can continue using my Squeezebox Touches.
