Lol... Couldn't imagine that. We always like to keep an emergency stock of food (mostly frozen or dry), but as much fresh as possible, for as long as it lasts, all of which came in handy during the first lockdown, with all the queues and idiots panic-buying and emptying supermarket shelves.

Admittedly, our 'reserve fridge' is mostly full of white wine and beer, which one could argue are equally 'essential items'!

Yeah, if I was going to somewhere like that I would want to be high up, simply for the view.

Heights don't really bother me. When you're 1000s of metres up in the air, in an open ski lift, going up some huge mountains in Austria in the middle of winter, and all of a sudden it just stops, and you're left dangling there for 10 mins, trying not to look down, you can't be too concerned about heights!

Del's different, she screams like mad, especially when I wind her up and start jiggling the thing around, and then say 'Was that a bolt I heard coming off?'

I pay for it later though, when we get our feet back on the ground, and she kicks my arse!!

It's been my lifelong habit to keep a stock of 'essentials', so I have never come close to running short of anything. I did buy a second freezer in March 2020, as I anticipated how things were likely to go and that was a good move.

A half and half fridge freezer in the kitchen, and the garage has a second fridge for extra milk, beer and soft drinks, and a chest freezer which we decant into kitchen as and when. Garage fridge is also handy for anything I don't want the ankle biters to have, as I know they're too bone idle to go out to the garage.

Anticipating the idiots buying up everything just before the first lockdown, before then I had been slowly building up a stock of tinned food (tomatoes, tinned fish, sweetcorn, kidney beans etc.) as well as pasta and rice (all kinds). Now every time I use a tin, it gets replaced the next time I shop. Fortunately there doesn't seem to be a shortage of anything now; but having built up a food stock I'm going to maintain it.

All good as long as the cupboards are organised so that stuff doesn't end up stuck at the back, passing its best before date. Easy enough with regular items like tinned soup and beans, but I think I may have an old Christmas pudding back there... Just been for a look, no Christmas pudding, but two bags of flour that expired December. Probably ok for a few months yet

I have organised chaos. Mountains of stuff that looks haphazard, but I actually know where to lay my hands on any item.
