All replacement items are put behind the current ones, and I keep an eye on the packs of dried goods such as pasta, rice. and beans I recently had a sort through the various jars of herbs and spices, and was shocked that some of the spices were years out of date! It has been a long time since I made any curries, so not surprisingly the spices were so out of date.All good as long as the cupboards are organised so that stuff doesn't end up stuck at the back, passing its best before date. Easy enough with regular items like tinned soup and beans, but I think I may have an old Christmas pudding back there... Just been for a look, no Christmas pudding, but two bags of flour that expired December. Probably ok for a few months yetI don't think I would have been poisoned, but the spices would have lost their flavour and 'zip'.
