I think most people would struggle with the 86th floor, I know I would.

When on holiday, if our hotel balcony is more than say 70-80 ft, I need a minute to get used to it and check the integrity of the balcony rail and fittings.

Mrs. P is a lot better than me, but then she's done bungee and parachute jumps. And she still thinks it's funny that I screamed like a girl when we went on a bungee catapult Although I maintain it wasn't the height, it was the feeling that my guts were dropping out my arse.

The more I think about it the less I like heights after all.

torrential rain here, had to go out in it to the shop as run out of food. Got soaked. It's blowing a gale too.

Strange concept that. running out of food... Do you mean that there wasn't anything left at all in the house you could eat, or rather there wasn't anything in that you fancied eating?

We've got two fridges and a freezer full of food, not to mention a 'larder' filled with tins and jars of all sorts (soup, etc). plus tons of dried foods, such as pasta and rice, plus fresh veg, so to completely run out of food would take several months!

Don't you keep any stocks in reserve?

86th floor? Lol.... You're going to the wrong hotels! Don't think I've ever stayed in a hotel with more than half a dozen floors, as I much prefer small family-run places to 'stack-em-high' soulless skyscrapers in package holiday resorts, if indeed that's what you're referring to?

So if you're not too keen on heights, avoid the above and stay in smaller hotels with more character - simples!

And yes, having two fridges is a frequent cause of much excitement. I had a dream about it last night.

You'll struggle to find a small. family-run place in Manhattan. The hotel I stayed in was only 5 floors but they were situated between floors 33 and 37 of the building. But you want to be up high when staying there, gives the best views of the city. Once you get used to it. I couldn't go near the window for the first day.

just enough food to keep you going, long enough to wish you didnt have it. you need a bigger stock of end of the world rations
