    I'm Paul.

    Default Hello from Aberdeenshire.

    Hello,

I’m in the process of getting back into my vinyl having got rid of my turntable a while ago. I’ve just picked up a nice Technics SL-120 mk1 which I’m really impressed with, the speeds seem spot on and the motor is still giving plenty of torque. I’m hoping to find a Technics SL-110 which is what I was really looking for, but couldn’t pass up the 120 given the good condition. Just need to find a nice tonearm for the SL-120 now as it came without an arm.

My musical tastes are wide ranging from rock, folk, orchestral, blues, jazz, big band, anything acoustic and pretty much anything in between. All time favourites are Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Nick Drake, Led Zeppelin, Thelonious Monk, Queen, Bert Jansch, John Martyn, Fariport Convention, Altan.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Hi Paul. Welcome to AOS.

Nice turntable the SL-120, I'm sure somebody will have an arm to fit. Try putting a 'wanted' ad in our Private Exhibitions section.

It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Thanks Filterlab, yeah it's pretty nice up here, we're not far from Turriff. Portsoy is busy at the moment as they are filming for the new Peaky Blinders series there.

I didn't know that! I'll have a look around on Wednesday, once I've done my work.
