These were the next level up, apparently there was a 600 series but I've never seen them (unless there was only a transport and dac option.).

The 2 series Meridian CD remote gives basic functions with the 5 series players. They are generally cheaper. The 'posh' MSR is has full system functions.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

I remember the 508 fondly, the Boothroyd Stuart days IIRC. Lovely solid machines with gorgeous sound.

How is the Opera Consonance T99 sounding Lawrence?
    Current: [P20] Roon/Tidal > Custom PC> Chevron Paradox NDF16 > Phast Pre > Neuro. 686 > Tannoy Berkley (RFC tweaks)

Sorry Edward missed this, it's sounding great especially once it's warmed up a little and finds its feet. (Ie. it initially sounded a little too syrupy but the detail starts to emerge after a while) but it doesn't get much use here as I've got a nice integrated.

Fear not, I'll be finding a use for it, probably before a nice little Gainclone I bought
