Default Nuova Simonelli Oscar II Espresso Machine for Sale

Marco has kindly allowed me to list my Nuova Simonelli Oscar II espresso machine here in Abstract Chat.

Some of you may have seen in The Coffee House that I have bought a new Lelit Bianca espresso machine, and that means my old Nuova Simonelli Oscar II needs to find a new home. I bought it in 2016 from Elektros in Italy, pre-fitted with their OPV (overpressure valve) and Sirai pressurestat modifications. The OPV allows the brew head pressure to be adjusted down from the standard 15 bar, and I have it set at around 8 bar. The Sirai pressurestat controls main boiler pressure much more effectively and reliably than the standard pressurestat.

The Nuova Simonelli Oscar II is a bit like a scaled down professional machine, and it has a single 2 litre pressurised boiler that provides very strong steam, and that boiler indirectly heats the brewhead through a heat exchanger. This means the machine takes around 30 minutes to fully warm up, but once that point is reached, the brew temperature is very stable and you can pull repeated shots without cooling the brew head. The steam pressure is 1.4 bar, and that means loads of powerful steam for really professional milk frothing and texturing - a world removed from most domestic machines which typically have weak/intermittent steam. If you have a yearning to be a better barista, capable of decent latte art, then this machine will get you quite close.

My machine has the light blue casing, and comes with the original accessories, plus a second naked portafilte/basket. It has all its original packaging, and manual.

For full details/specs etc, look at Elektros here https://www.elektros.it/gb/en/oscar-II-black.html

There are a few YouTube videos, inlcuding from Elektros showing installation of the OPV:

The Oscar II costs around £600 new. I would like £325 including UK shipping

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
