Hi, looking for one of these for a second system. Must be in full working order; no laser or tray issues at all, please. One that has been serviced recently would be ideal. To be posted to Suffolk. Many thanks in advance.

ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down

It’s very good of you to take the time to look. Thank you. The SE model seems to have dried up at the moment. I’m hoping one turns up or somebody finds a good example lying around. These things are worth the wait. Not overly familiar with the CD85. Nice looking thing, though.
The 85 is a vastly superior machine to the 52, in terms of build and (in my view) sound. I've had both.
In the 52 sort of price range, I'd also have a look at a CD60SE. These are TDA1541A based like the 85.

The other way to see the CD85 is a "budget" CD94, which is one of the best CD players ever made (at least in MK2 guise)

Interesting. Same mechanism as a CD52, I believe. Would need to check the drawer wheel and belt were in full working order.
The CD85 is a significantly different mech to the CD 52. The 85 used a CDM1.2 where as the CD 52 uses the much more common (and cheaper) CDM4. The CDM4 was used in most philips and Marantz players made around the time of the CD52. It's still a very good and reliable mech. I wouldn't get hung up on the drawer belt. They are readily available and easy to fit.
