Hi All,
Thanks for all your suggestions.
I think I'm going to try a Tisbury in the first instance for two reasons.
1. I can send it back if I don't like it.
2. Its British, and I like supporting small UK companies.

good choice
ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven
Don't let nobody turn you around
… Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down

Who on earth thought that would be a good name for a product (although it has got me talking/thinking about it - perhaps "spunky speakers" would be a good one; meaning "lively" of course)

They have a sense of humour ...reading their manuals is hilarious

Tisbury passive preamp is now installed. So far I've not been able to hear it which is exactly what I wanted. I can now switch between my digital source and my new turntable. Loving the analogue sound, even my 40 year old albums sound better than I've ever heard them. Already thinking about a cartridge upgrade!
