That might help, it did for me years ago when I used Roon ( ditched it for Logitech Media Server/Material Skin instead )

    use these instructions:

On a remote like a phone or tablet running Android or iOS, when you try and login and cannot connect there will be a screen that shows up and you should see a line which says “Make sure your Roon core is powered on and connected to your network.”

Below that line there is a blue “Help” link. Click that “Help” link and you will have a pop up which allows you to enter the IP of your Roon Core.

    That is where you enter

    255.255.255.255

This will need to be done on each remote that has a connection issue.
    Thanks MikeyB

I thought I was a bit of Roon expert, as I’ve been using Roon without problem since it was first introduced.

However, I have always been iPhone / iPad (apple) man for remote control together with Roon Sever on a NUC. “ Never an Issue”.

I have now (after 10 years of apple) changed to Android, Which was originally working fine but last night for the first time ever.... Lost Connection and wouldn’t reconnect.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, the 255.255.255.255, which I completely forgot about..... instantly reconnected the Android phone.

Many thanks for the reminder..... I must be getting senile

That's great, I had to dig deep into my whatchamacallit? lol to remember even part of the number sequence, what I find strange is that is such a common problem that it's not easier to find the solution on the Roon Forums.

Anyway, I'm an LMS man should we even be talking lol

The 255.255.255.255 number is a subnet on the network.
Your devices are commonly on 255.255.255.0

It looks like you can't control Roon locally (ie without an internet connection).

it does need an internet connection, but you can go offline for up to 30 days i believe.. the licence gets checked every 30 days.

Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
