Great write up Martin, and echo's my own thoughts on the Audiolab.
To add to what you said:

Clean as a whistle and I'd maybe add that it's a detail monster.
Doesn't let the side down, even with an expensive Dac, which shows how bloody good the thing is.

Best CD playback I've had here at Gaz Towers,
betters my own Oppo too -a modded 203-, as a Redbook transport, even over i2s to the Dac.

Crackin' review to whet yer whistle if your considering a CD transport.

    And full review:

HINT: Dont buy a vintage CD Player, get one of these instead.

Sounds fantastic out the box, but can be given more Fizz with good cabling and isolation.
Co-ax connection sounded best to my ears, which makes sense as that output has had some time spent on it by Audiolab.
(coaxial socket is fed from a differential line driver: basically a much lower noise "balanced" connection)

I think the 6000CDT is a future classic.
    AC POWER
Hardwired 10kVA balanced mains powering entire system
    AMPS
Meridian 557 power Amp (Modded) / PS Audio BHK Preamp (Modded)
    SPEAKERS
    Wharfedale Evo 4.4
    DAC
    PS Audio Directstream (Modded)
    TURNTABLE
Pro-Ject X8 balanced output via XLR / Ortofon Quintet Blue cartridge
    PHONOSTAGE
Pro-Ject DS3 B balanced Input (TT and Phonostage powered by Pro-Ject Power box RS2 linear psu)
    DIGITAL
OPPO 203 (Modded: Linear PSU, i2s output to Dac) - Roon Endpoint, HDMI input used for all things Streaming/ PS5 /AppleTV ... also good for movies apparently?
    MUSIC PLAYBACK
Tweaked AP-Linux based Roon Server into Oppo 203 as Roon endpoint
    Ipad Roon Remote.
Apple Music/ YouTube via AppleTV, fed to Dac via Oppo HDMI input/i2s output to Dac.
    SPEAKER CABLES
Biwired: Duelund DCA10GA (Bass) Duelund DCA16GA (mid & treble) Duelund 12DCA used as jumpers (On
"Blackcat Cable" Chris Sommivigo's advice - yup, even with biwire it sounds better - and it does)
    INTERCONNECTS
All Balanced: Ghost+ recording studio XLR cables

It was that review and your own experience of the Audiolab that decided me on trying it. Bought off Amazon so no major hassle in sending it back but knew from the first minute of listening to it that I wasn't going to be sending it back.

So often I make a change and find myself thinking 'Is it really any different?' When you're thinking that then you know it's not. But not the case here.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.
