“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Ok, seems fine now. Didn’t know about instant email. I’ll try to find that setting. Cheers!

Ha I have to admit it's quite a few. I go through phases, for most of the last 10 years I was getting through a different pair of speakers every month or two. As I started to settle in a particular direction that suited me (ie keeping them for more like 3 months at a time!) I started to play with DACs instead. As that's settled down as well (about 2 months ago!) I've started working my way through amps to match my Amphion speakers.

Audiolab 6000A will retain a bit of the Arcam sound but with a bit more life and verve, for even more get up and go (fun) try a Rega Elex-R.

Both of these were on my list, but no way of hearing them. I’ve got an 8000a, but it’s getting a bit creaky now. The Elex r was used for the Techradar review of the Dyns, so seems like a good shout

Decided on the flavour change option. I seem to be in a minority that prefers silver to black, so got a Creek Evolution 50a for £329 on the Bay. No phono stage, but includes the tuner module, which I don’t really want! Any views on the Sequel phono stage as opposed to an outboard?
