I owned a Transcription Audio 211 SET for a while and had no issues of the sort you mentioned, but mine had a volume control built in. I wonder if it’s an impedance mismatch with the DAC output?

No volume pot on mine, it was ok and l could get plenty of volume via the beresford just sounded a bit lacklustre compared to the pre section of the Morgan deva

There is a KIN valve preamp with remote control switched attenuator available for £500, rather a bargain.

    Would be an good match.

Hi, Would that be passive or have some gain?
Any more info? Could be interested in this if you think it will be good. I don’t need a phono stage.

The particular example is line only, 12dB gain, 4 inputs, remote control mute and volume with an Acoustic Dimension stepped attenuator. The attenuator is exceedingly good, it was in my preamp originally.
I can put you in touch with the seller if interested.
