You can also buy 'self drilling' screws, which have a drill-type tip which will make a hole in metal the exact right size for the following thread. they come in various sizes and lengths, and should be easy to find at a specialist 'fasteners' shop. We have one in Preston called 'All Thread', other towns will have similar

The one's I took out were only 6.5mm, be honest though I don't these self drillers would penetrate the steel plate on this van, the drill bits I was using only lasted a few holes and they were done, I'm just gonna have to spray from under the van, then lift up ply, flip it over, drill 2mm pilot hole, flip it over, then drill final hole with countersunk bit you recommended, what a palava! Don't really want to make any more holes in the van !
