Default A question about amplifier selector switches, valve amps and splitting sources.

I have one source (a DAC), two amps (a Radford valve amp and a Rotel transistor amp) and two speakers (JR149s). I want to be able to switch between the amps easily (to save the valves)

I think I could use this Beresford switch -- it looks suitable for the Radford even if I accidently turn it on with no speakers connected (but I'm not totally sure.)

Could I get the source into the amps just by using a pair of splitter leads like these?

Yes the splitter box is okay and does say it provides a dummy load so no issue with the Radford.

Yes, you can use Y splitters to run the source into two amps.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

Thanks, and I think I’ve put this into the wrong part of the forum. Sorry.

I wasn’t sure about the Y splitters. I am not using a preamp. The DAC outputs 2V. Will each prong of the Y get half of this?

Not if one amp is switched off.

Both amps will get the full output level. The Dac will have a low enough output impedance to drive both amps without problem.

I use a Y splitter such as these.

How are you controlling volume without a preamp? Via the DAC?
