    Question Fiio M3 Pro

    Just a quick one chaps, a mate of mine is looking for a portable digital audio player and was considering the Fiio M3 Pro, which gets great reviews, but wanted to know if it allows streaming directly from his Spotify account, or does it just play sources from its USB input?

    If it doesn't allow him to stream music from Spotify, then could someone please recommend a similarly priced player that facilitates such? It would be preferable, but not mandatory, if any recommendations were from personal experience, i.e. that you own and have used the device concerned, but all info and advice would be appreciated!

    Any computer running Linux Mint will attain for free from the operating systems Software manager a Spotify music player see image.
    All that is needed is a laptop or tablet running Linux Mint https://www.linuxmint.com

    I used to have a Fiio X3 that I thought was decent until I tried a Motorola X Play smartphone which trounced the Fiio for sound quality.

    Might be an idea to look at some of the Sony smartphones or any that have been designed with gaming as a priority as they tend to have decent audio chips.

    On the subject of phones, I use a LG V20, it has fantastic DAC and headphone amp. Plays Spotify really well plus I have a 256gb ssd in it filled with music. Bonus is it is a really good phone as well. V30 is another.

    son and i got one of these.. good phone/camera/ sound etc. great value and work well with qobuz etc. takes an sd card too for music.

    I don't think the M3 pro can do spotify but I believe the M6 or M9 can

    Thanks, Chris, but preferably it's got to be something that works independently of a computer. i.e. you power it up, plug headphones in, connect to Spotify via the available wi-fi network, and hear music. No more effort than that

    Thanks Mike, but see above. Any reccos must be, NOT for phones (as he's happy with the one he's got, just as a phone/camera), but dedicated music players that can access his Spotify account
