Way off-topic.

But does anyone remember when you could visit a joke shop and buy a plastic dog turd?

What fun we had.

We left it on the office entrance carpet. Overly serious boss wandered in and said "What is that?"

I got down on my knees and sniffed it. Tasted it. "Seems OK to me."

There was a joke shop in Preston used to sell them. The dog one was called 'Mucky Pup', which I couldn't afford, so I bought the smaller 'Mucky Puss'. It was more believable anyway if there was a puppy about

I've seen a bloke who was arguing with his bird, scoop dogshit up off the pavement, put it in the hood of her duffle-coat and then pull the hood up over her head. It was a bitterly cold day so the shit was partly frozen but that's still nasty on a number of levels.

You missed the bit afterwards where she booted him in the boz and told him he had hee-haw chance of getting his hole later!

I'd introduce massive on-the-spot fines for any dog owner who doesn't clean up his or her pet's mess, carried out by enforcement officers - and I'd incentivise other members of the public, if witnessing such behaviour, to take pictures of the perpetrators (dog owners) and report them to the relevant authorities.

This is unlikely to apply to anyone here, but too many folk have pets (of all kinds) and neglect to take proper responsibility for them! Therefore, stricter laws need enforcing in order to prevent such despicable behaviour.

Sometimes at our previous house there'd be a dog turd dumped just at the end of our drive. One day - not quite sure why - but maybe the weather was good, or we had workmen in - I had a chair outside, some way from the entrance. I watched, and then a woman came past with a dog - which performed. I think she was on the way out, but a while later she returned, and I said something like "Excuse me .... Your dog did that on your way out ...." She tried to expostulate - "It wasn't my dog ...", but I disagreed. "I've been sitting here for an hour, and yours was the only one to 'drop' by". A few minutes later she returned with a bag and a scoop.

That reduced the problem for quite a long while after that, IIRC. Dog owners who allow their dogs to dump outside other people's houses should be called out if they don't clear up, though unfortunately I have on occasion been "given" a dog to look after (not very willingly), which has caused me some embarrassment.

I see a lot of dog walkers carrying a bag of poo these days, and that's how it should be. It's their civic duty after all. But it's the people picking up poo and putting it in a bag, that don't even have a dog, they're the ones to worry about especially if their tabard has KFC printed on it
