    I'm Alan.

Default New (to me) cartridge at Firebottle towers

Decided to take a punt on an alternative cartridge to save the wear on my Lyra Clavis (re-tipped).
Saw this Dynavector Karat Ruby on Lenco Heaven for sale, so thinking 'you can't take it with you' I splashed the cash and it arrived today.

I am using a standard Goldring Lenco GL75 with heavy plinth, I had a spare headshell so got it mounted and set for 1.5 gram tracking.

It has a very short synthetic ruby cantilever. Initially I couldn't get the rear of the arm low enough to make the tonearm parallel so had to make a 4mm spacer for the cartridge.
Now fitted it is a very detailed presentation. If anything it sounds a bit brighter than the Lyra, but not 'in your face'. Really enjoying the direct and open sound this is giving.
I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

I have a DV 17d Mk II which I love. It does trip up over fluff if your records aren't very clean but otherwise tracks most things I throw at it.

Must look out for a low hours used one for when this one wears out. The new 17dx is tempting but out of my budget at the moment. That one as a proper brass body so ways a little more.
    Paul.
