When we had our litter of Border Terrier puppies, I wouldn't sell to people who weren't going to be at home for most of the day, even those who said they could get back at lunchtime. Puppies need a lot of time and company or they will be stressed, anti-social and will destroy things. Ultimately neither of you will be happy.

You could consider an indoor Rabbit or Guinea Pig maybe? Beware of cables though.
had 2 borders.. great dogs. would have another; thats how good they are. great with kids too

Ah, I'd forgotten you'd said that.

    Thanks for the advice chaps.
As I had suspected, it is not a good idea.
    Now to convince the wife.

I think setting up an aquairium with my daughter, and making her responsible for it will be a great thing to do together.
Now I just need to find some nice looking, easy care fish.

Just get an aquarium animated desktop background/wallpaper for the TV or computer. Job done!
