It was the first time I ever went to the USA, first time anywhere outside of Europe in fact. Loved everything about it. Doesn't rain much that's true, but I think I'd get over it.
If you don't like it hot then you can rule out Louisiana and Arizona. And New England is red hot in the summer and freezing in the winter - colder than Scotland!

Yes, that would probably apply to anywhere in the States worth living, but at least the areas I mentioned would have great appeal, especially during the times when the weather wasn't 'challenging', so for me that would more than make up for the times when is was! Whereas California would simply be hot and shite all year round!
More seriously, as I said, that's why if I were choosing somewhere different to live, it would more than likely be Austria or Switzerland. There would be no downsides for me living in either of those two countries, especially with the latter offering fast access to Germany, France and Italy!

I like France and Italy but don't think I'd want to live there. Never been to Austria but the trouble with Europe is the culture is too strange to me. Whereas America is familiar, not just because I've been there a lot but because I grew up with it on the telly.
