Yes quite so. When I was in the Philippines we just missed a tropical storm, not even classed as a typhoon, over 5,000 people killed, on an island further south.

5 star Hotel I had breakfast in, was completely destroyed by an earthquake 6 weeks later. Then there was massive volcano eruption.

Many people in these hot countries don't like it, they complain about the heat, air pollution and droughts, the monsoon is a relief.

Who wants air conditioning most of the time?

can you imagine sharing a boat with a load of Welsh and English... English would be pissed and vomitting while the welsh would be practising close harmony singing 24/7. the Scots would be plotting the overthrow of the sasenach captain then falling out with eachother...
The Irish would of course have collected all the money and weapons and then be in a position to fling everyone overboard.

Which colony might this be?

You need somewhere temperate and pleasant, no nasty diseases and dangerous wildlife or stuff like that. The Falklands is too small and the weather's crap, although I suspect the government may have it on their list of possible places to dump migrants, rather similar to the Scottish isles that are being considered.

The Azores would be great climate wise, but it's not ours (at the moment) and far too small. I suppose if the Spanish were here we could have their place, bit warm though and the streets need sweeping.

America's out, it's full of Americans. New Zealand is too close to the Antarctic and Australia won't do, too close to China and too much desert. So where else is there?

I did say when we had an Empire as opposed to a few rocky outposts. We'd have been spoiled for choice.
