Default Hi from Dan in Sussex

Hello everyone, my name's Dan and I'm new to the audiophile world. I have a lot of parts to build up but I've started with a set of audio-technica ATH-A1000Z cans (at the moment direct into PC).

I like classic rock and some of the new stuff

    Thanks!

    Hello Dan. Welcome to AOS.

Tell us what kind of system you're aiming to put together.

If you want to start from scratch, try opening a thread in our 'Blank Canvas' section outlining your ideas and requirements. You'll need to give us an idea of budget and whether you want new or second hand gear. Whether you'll stick with headphones or want speakers too and what kind of listening environment you have and if you'll be sticking with computer sounds as a source or maybe you'd like a record deck or CD etc.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Thanks Geoff,

Well at the moment I've only got room for a personal audio set up; I'm doing a lot of studying right now so the headphones are helping to keep external noise down.

I opened a thread in Blank Canvas but I think it got moved to Artist's Palette as it was quite amp focused - sorry about that! I managed to find second hand ATH-A1000Zs for half the normal price so I'm definitely interested in finding more used gear, there's some amazing deals out there. I think I covered most of the rest in the other topic - many thanks for letting me join the forum

    Cheers,
    Dan

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
