Yes, get some load on it mass wise and capacitance wise, both will make it sing!

I have the Audio Technica 18gm headshell I can use on my SL1200 MKII. I have been on the KAB USA website and it says I need 32gm of weight on the rear stub using their weights. Is this correct as it seems a lot to me. What are you using in yours Marco or anyone else?

    Thanks

If it not something to do with the colour of the writing?

I thought I'd read something about that but can't remember where.

Just out of interest I looked out the one I bought a while back to see which version I had. Interesting find as I hadn't checked before.

White writing on stylus front and Made in USA on the rear of the cartridge and on the box.

    Happy Days

If it says "Made in the U.S.A", then it is.

If it says "Shure", then it has been assembled in Mexico (using parts made by Shure in the US).

To me it makes little difference: the SC25C was designed for the BBC intended to be used in situations where back cueing is likely. It is thus a robust cartridge fitted with a conical stylus; and in my experience is not worth making a fuss over.

Like the Shure M3D (and to a much lesser extent, the M55E) it is a dated and over-hyped Shure design.

Having owned and listened to all three over the years, I stick by my comments.
