    Howdy from Texas!
Long time lurker, thought I would join in the fun.
About me...... I am a maintenance manager at an O&G manufacturing plant in Columbus Texas.
For many years I played guitar/bass and vox in punk/garage bands.
I and a friend opened a record store in Missoula Montana in the mid 90’s that I left and he is still running it today.
At the same time I was a manager/salesman of a hi/fi shop called Stereo Plus/Everything Electronic
I gave up playing music because it (me) was hazardous to my health.
I have always been into record collecting but have had to start over many times do to
A-selling my records to fund my addiction or
B- having my records stolen by a junky friend or girlfriend.
I have been sober now for 15 years.
Sobriety is boring but I e learned that boring is good for everything but my waistline...
I set out to not reveal too much about myself but look what I have done;)
My system consists of Dunlavy SC-IV, SM-1, SC-1, HRCC, Purifi amps, many modified Dynaco ST-70’s
    PAS2’s, Akito PH-2, Phonoclone, ARCAM avr390,
    Thorens TD-125mkII, TD-160, Technics SP-25, Rega P-5
Fidelity Research FR-64fx, Sony PUA-7 (stand alone), Jelco SS-750d
I also collect vintage moving coil cartridges from Fidelity Research, Accuphase etc..
But my favorite cartridges by a mile are Aidas Black Sound Red Heart(phenomenal) and Transfiguration Aria (also phenomenal)
I’ve also built a few DIY speakers from Zaph’s aluminum monitors to Seas Loki and the above Dunlavy HRCC
So that’s me in a nutshell.
Oh, I’m a dog lover and general animal rescuer.
    Thanks for having me here.

    Hi Johnny. Welcome to AOS.

That's a good and interesting intro. Sounds like you've been around a bit .

You don't see the Transfiguration Aria mentioned often, it seems a rare cartridge these days.

Anyway, join in the fun and chat with the members.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Welcome to AoS Johnny.

Interesting introduction, you have some gear there (I too am an admirer of the designs of Ikeda san).

What are your tastes in music?

    Enjoy the Forum

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!
To be honest I worried that I over shared, which I have done all of my life.
I appreciate the kind responses. I don’t hide my past addiction as I am proud that I over came it.
I have been drawn to this site since I have gotten back into audio.
You guys/gals seem to be able to discuss topics civilly compared to other forums I also lurk.
I can’t run with the big boys , dollar wise so I try to be a discriminating vintage guy.
Geoff, you are correct about the Aria, even to Immutable Music - the company that makes Transfiguration Cartridges.
I have emailed them and they have zero info on it.
If you go to the “way back machine” and look at their website it
announces “Aria coming soon” then nothing, 3 months later “Axia coming soon”
I spoke with the distributor for USA called SoraSound and he actually gave the Aria it’s name. He filled its background in nicely.
Barry, Music wise , I’m a RnR guy for the most part. Chuck Berry, Sonics, Wailers, MC5, Stooges, Radio Birdman... into the punk era, Television, (I laugh at myself for caring so much about SQ with punk)
NY Dolls, Thunders then 80’ hardcore scene. Seems so cliched writing it all down, but I likes what I likes
Big Boys-from Austin. Scratch Acid, the Jesus Lizard. Then onto Hellacopters, Turbonegro, lots of noise rock AMREP bands..
But also have quite a few original pressings of Monk, Coltrane, Bird...

Thanks again to Geoff, Jo, Filterlab & Barry

Hi Johnny and welcome, this is a safe place to share and i for one will offer my positivity to overcoming your challenges day by day. I can identify with vintage gear rather than being able to afford 'New gear' ....so enjoy your time here out in the open ...rather than being a lurker
