Default FS: Rega Apollo-R CD Player

    Rega Apollo-R CD player for sale. I'm looking for £250 + P&P

The player is in good condition and I have the original packaging, manual and remote control. I brought it from new.

It's a nice little top loading player, but it has been back to Rega twice since I purchased it in Jan-2014, and I will include the service docs from Rega.

The play received a 4 start review from What Hi-Fi

Rega Repair Notes - work carried out

    Mar-18: Changed CD Mech.
    Aug-20: Resoldered 42/43/44/46/47/48/413/414

I was charged for the first repair as the player was out of warranty. The second repair was free of charge. Rega's service has been excellent.

The fault each time was similar - it started to struggle to play tracks occasionally, which steadily got worse.

The player is working fine now, but I've decided to go for a dedicated transport (I have only ever used the Rega as a transport), something I was considering doing before the latest fault appeared.

I am amazed at how much better this player sounds as a transport to either my office system Sony CDP-XB920 or my Pioneer BDP-LX55 Bluray player. The clarity of detail is obvious, but also the way it brings strands of music together so that they sound part of the same piece rather than discordant interruptions as the Pioneer tends to. Music played via the Rega is so much more alive than via the Sony - mainly in that instruments are defined more clearly and separate from each other.

It replaced a TEAC VRDS-7 with to my ears no loss in sound quality.

I am happy to consider offers considering the player's history.

Price drop to £200 + P&P or make an offer.

I’ll be putting up for sale a nearly new Audiolab transport if you are interested. Had about 3 hours use.

I'm afraid I've already bought a replacement Audiolab transport.

They’re great transports - only reason I’m selling is I’ve bought a streamer.

I have a very good streamer, but I still like playing CDs, and they sound very good with the transport and my PS Audio DAC.

Yes, I’m really struggling to decide as to whether to keep CD capability, I’ve a collection built up from the mid 80s. I will certainly keep several of my favourite artists....
