Sure, but I don't get your point. He's entitled to charge for delivery from Japan to the UK, no? The cost of the cartridge is also more than fair, considering its rarity and desirability among those who appreciate its quality, so what's the problem?

In any case, I haggled and he not only reduced the price, but also took off the delivery charge and upgraded the shipping to Express! Trust me, the seller (Yuki) is top-notch. I've bought from him before, so I knew what to expect, but he's been absolutely fantastic throughout with the transaction, including being very sympathetic with the incompetent and shambolic way UK customs handled matters - more on that later!

And... He also offered me a full refund if customs had ended up losing it, even though that the ridiculous delay and fannying about wasn't his fault.

So no, I can say nothing negative against this seller whatsoever, indeed the exact opposite, and only have high praise for him. Therefore, I would not only buy from him again, but thoroughly recommend him to any AoS member who may have been considering importing something special from Japan, but a bit wary of who they might be dealing with.

Well, rest assured that with Yuki, they'd have ZERO to worry about, because he's totally trustworthy and customer focussed, and so comes highly recommended!

not saying he isn't a top guy mate, i just think at a shade under £1k listed, free delivery would be thrown in without the need to ask or haggle, we're not all jocks with deep pockets and short arms you know, some people simply won't ask if that's the best price and it's not like we are talking about 30 or 40kg of amp, i get that it would need insuring while in the postal system but even so.

Fair enough lol, but I just don't think like that. A tightwad I ain't... If a cost seems reasonable to me [which that was], then I'll gladly pay it, and if folks are too 'shy' to haggle, then that's THEIR fault, no-one else's!

Plus, even if he'd offered free shipping, I'd still have paid more for a fully-insured and trackable, speedily expedited service, as I never buy anything of considerable value from abroad without taking the necessary precautions, in order to ensure (as far as possible) that it arrives quickly and safely!

No, I'll always haggle for a discount, if it's warranted, and try and get the best price I can. However, if something needs paying, for something I want, then I'll pay it, as life's too short mate not to treat yourself and have some fun!

TBH, the hi-fi hobby in general (and forums in particular) are overpopulated by grumps and tightwads, and I refuse to entertain their misery!

lol - do remember I'm often quite cute when it comes to obtaining kit I cant normally afford, so duplicate vinyl gets sold and anything else I find around the house, in the shed that is sitting about doing nothing / not needed and could bring in a few quid. Done well that way.

The CB I spotted on an Ebay auction a few years back as part of a minty Project 10 Signature package.

I asked the seller if he'd consider selling it separately.

He said it and the deck had hardly been used hence the sale.

A bit of back and forth negotiation and it was mine for £800 - not bad considering they are £1850 new (Mum always said dont ask, dont get....)

My latest turntable acquisition was from Japan, cost me £240 and came with free shipping, which surprised me. What surprised me even more was that I've done this before and the deck took nearly a month to arrive - this one turned up in just under a week.

In fact, I'm heading home to open it right now!

Good customer service is what I call it Adam, just coz you can charge delivery doesn’t necessarily mean you should.
