I rigged up a large USB fan over the top of the casework that runs from a mains powered USB PSU. Job done.

Quad 303 running here, cool and calm! Changed from a TPA3116 that also runs cool a few days ago. I daren't run my Radford STA25 III unless I want to fry! Incidentally, my Quad 405-2 runs a bit warm.

If I ran all these in this weather, think I might end up as crispy bacon

Actually, pic was in the late 70's, all but one pair of the Quad II's I sold.

I'm still new to HiFi so I've been wondering about how hot amps get... I own a couple of Quad 405's and a 909. The 405's get a bit warm, but the 909 gets really warm. I actually called Rob at Quad to ask if it was normal and he said it was... I'm between homes at the moment so don't have a decent system set up yet but within a couple of months I'm going to be frying eggs on the 909, with any luck!

At lowish outputs a 303 runs pretty cool, my 405-2 pretty warm.

Big heatsinked Meridian poweramp, never changes from “slightly warm to the touch” no matter the weather.
Unlike the 300B SET amp I had, which in Summer was like a 3 bar electric heater.
    AC POWER
Hardwired 10kVA balanced mains powering entire system
    AMPS
Meridian 557 power Amp (Modded) / PS Audio BHK Preamp (Modded)
    SPEAKERS
    Wharfedale Evo 4.4
    DAC
    PS Audio Directstream (Modded)
    TURNTABLE
Pro-Ject X8 balanced output via XLR / Ortofon Quintet Blue cartridge
    PHONOSTAGE
Pro-Ject DS3 B balanced Input (TT and Phonostage powered by Pro-Ject Power box RS2 linear psu)
    DIGITAL
OPPO 203 (Modded: Linear PSU, i2s output to Dac) - Roon Endpoint, HDMI input used for all things Streaming/ PS5 /AppleTV ... also good for movies apparently?
    MUSIC PLAYBACK
Tweaked AP-Linux based Roon Server into Oppo 203 as Roon endpoint
    Ipad Roon Remote.
Apple Music/ YouTube via AppleTV, fed to Dac via Oppo HDMI input/i2s output to Dac.
    SPEAKER CABLES
Biwired: Duelund DCA10GA (Bass) Duelund DCA16GA (mid & treble) Duelund 12DCA used as jumpers (On
"Blackcat Cable" Chris Sommivigo's advice - yup, even with biwire it sounds better - and it does)
    INTERCONNECTS
All Balanced: Ghost+ recording studio XLR cables

How hot your SS amp runs depends on the bias. My (modified) 405-1 runs cooler than my 405-2s.

All my power amps run very hot regardless of the weather. One will put you in hospital if you touch it in the wrong place firmly for more than a second...
