Thread: How is your amp coping, left on in this hot weather ?

    Default How is your amp coping, left on in this hot weather ?

    My integrated is left on and the top case is a definitely bit hotter during this weather. Hows your amp coping ?
    My System:
    Amplification - Sansui AU-alpha 707 DR
    Turntable - Technics SP10 MK2-Technics EPA-250 Tonearm-Yannis Tome 423.5Plus tonearm cable-Eichmann KLEI Absolute Harmony plugs.
    Ortofon Cadenza Black moving coil cartridge-Fritz Gyger S re-tip. Panzerholz plinth.

    CDP - Pioneer PD-91
    Speakers - Spendor D7 on Soundcare SuperSpikes
    QED Silver Spiral speaker cable-airloc banana plugs
    Mains - Ultra Pure silver plated un-switched socket-Missing link EPS 500 silver plated plugs-Hi-Fi Tuning gold plated silver ceramic 13 amp fuses

    I'm using my own 7297 based amplifier at the moment and it doesn't produce much heat (like, none). At least one guy also uses it instead of any of his Firstwatt amps during summer that lives somewhere hot. It's not really too abnormal for people to have summer amps.

    Biggest problem is power cuts with the electrical storms. Had two yesterday for very short period but amp will not like it so unplugged!

    The weather went cool again so I put my winter amp back in. As soon as I did that, back to heatwave.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

    My Quad 306 is always hot, and only on when used.

    Amps (even the tube ones) are actually coping surprisingly well . . . subwoofers however, could fry a blooming egg on the headsinks/radiator fins on the back panel. Thought Class D amps were supposed to run cool!?!?
