    Default New telly help

    Hi all.

I'm looking in to a new telly

My budget isn't massive, £300 - £350. Just would like to upgrade from my 36" 1080p Toshiba circa 2007

I wondered if anyone could recommend any of these:

SONY BRAVIA KDL40WE663 40" Smart HDR LED TV

    https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and...enie+Shopping)

    Samsung UE43TU7100

    https://www.personal-reviews.com/202...e43tu7100kxxu/

    LG 43UN71006LB

    https://www.personal-reviews.com/202...1006lb-review/

    Any help would be great
    Thanks

    Have a read https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/best-40-inch-tv

If you can then I would opt for this one https://www.richersounds.com/tv-proj...x40hx800b.html but is over budget.

We have 55" Panasonic Plasma, it is great, sadly no longer make Plasma TV's.

Of the 3 you listed the Sony is probably end of line as not on their site and came out in 2017. Samsung gets average reviews don't know when it came out, See https://www.personal-reviews.com/202...1006lb-review/ note they also suggest looking at another LG review of similar TV

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks for that.

This is where it turns in to a minefield. Lol

As to old models, I guess if it has good sound and a decent resolution and UHD ready.

I was hoping that one of those would have been a decent enough TV minus the Elexa and android support.

My current TV is 1080p but it falls over on frame rate. But it's still a decent watch.

I'm not one for going with the best of now, just something that will last and be enjoyable for the next 5 years. I don't want to get on an upgrade train.

I'm not big on uber large screens too so 40-43" is way plenty.

    Can't go wrong wi' Sony.

What makes the difference is even sharing the same panel as another make, from experience they seem to be the best at picture processing, which can make or break a good TV.

Did a bit of research on this stuff when getting my own, Sony's the way to go imo.

For research (if your a researchy kinda person)
Look no further than HDTVTest YouTube channel.

I would opt for the LG , had my 52" 1080P full HD for a good few years now , Several times I have been to the TV shop thinking of a more modern upgrade and to be honest I don't like what I see , The screens look like they have a chrome tinge , Oled not for me
I asked the sales assistant who just wanted me to buy a TV if I could have the remot so I could adjust the colour settings , A look of shock and mutterings followed by no sorry Sir you can't do that in the shop
I left without a new TV

Also when I get a new TV I aim to get natural skin tones then most other colours fall into place ,

The LG operating system is excellent as is performance. I have two models both of which have freeview AND freesat. By plugging in a WD passport hard drive I can record programmes off air.

LG also offer an excellent remote upgrade that allows for voice search.

BTW. Make sure you buy from somewhere like Richer or John Lewis where a 5/6 year warranty is included in the price.

A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Another vote for Sony. I bought a 55” previous years’ model a few years ago from Argos for I think £450. It’s excellent, especially after I downloaded a setup program from a Sony forum.
“Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio”

We bought a Samsung UE49MU7000 a couple of years ago at £700 from Richer Sounds. Excellent picture, loads of picture settings, 4k and HDR.

Not sure how the TU model compares in specs but I thought ours was pretty good value at the time. If the equivalent (however slightly smaller screen size) is available at half the cost now it's a cracker.
