    Default Hello fellow forum members!

Good afternoon everyone from a wet and windy Lancaster (UK).

I'm just getting back into hifi after all a long absence and making my first serious forays into vinyl, building up a collection from scratch having got rid of what little vinyl I had previously 20 odd years ago. I am currently trying to get to grips with the acoustics in a very compact, irregular shaped listening room. I tend to listen to rock, folk and country music primarily with Queen, Arcade Fire, Cat Stevens, Johnny Cash and Fleetwood Mac being just a few of my favourites.

I find forums such as The Art of Sound invaluable for learning about how to get the most from a system. My current set up comprises of a Rega Planar 2, KEF LS50s, Yamaha RN803D and an ageing Marantz CD 63SE.

    Cheers,

    James

Hello James, and welcome to AoS, I too returned HiFi as such about 6 years ago, as I got diverted into a surround sound system and listening casually to music using digital. However I returned like you to vinyl and have never looked back. Nice system you have there, and as you say room acoustics can be challenging. By the way the "what are you listening to" threads for general music, classical, and Jazz/blues can be very useful to find new stuff to explore.

    Cheers

Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

    Thanks Adrian,

I do enjoy finding out about new music (or new to me at least) I will have a look those threads. Discovering new music is so much easier now with streaming services, probably too easy as you tend to move on too quickly to something else without giving songs enough chance to make an impact through repeated listening.

It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
