    Default Lockdown Upgrades !

    Evening all

Locked in at home since March = Reduced spending = Increased disposable income = Itchy fingers !

So I shelled out on a new Cambridge Audio Azur Range , 851A Amp , 851N Network player / DAC and 851C CD player
Paired with new Monitor Audio Silver 100 speakers , Audioquest Rocket 11 speaker cable and a couple of nifty sound panels
    from Poland via eBay.

Couldn't be happier , a big step up from the previous system !

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Nice and neat and looks to be well laid out. Always liked Cambridge stuff and your pictures are a nice touch.

Having changed a lot in one go how close did the sound get to your expectations?

Yes , I knew I was taking a risk by swapping several things at once.
I was already using Monitor Audio Bronze Speakers and they were superb with Rega decks. I had no qualms about upgrading from Bronze to Silver.
I did a lot of research on the Cambridge range , the synergy between the 3 sources in particular , and it's paid off spectacularly. The 851N network player is a terrific piece of kit , refined yet punchy , and so versatile with a wide range of sources. The upsampling facility is the icing on the cake.
As an added bonus , I now only need one remote to control everything !
So all in all , I'm extremely pleased.

Looks very nice, there is something to be said for having matching units not just aesthetically either, I have read some very good reviews about the Azur range, enjoy the music.
Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

Lovely looking system and artwork their Steve.

I should have had a holiday to Vancouver and Seattle end of May but now have a nice second hand pair of Living Voice OBX-RWs. I have named them Vancouver and Seattle.
