A simple measurement with a ruler will be enough to determine the effective arm length. As you say "it' hardly quantum physics".

OK , The arm appears to be 9.5" measured from the center pivot point to the very end of the arm

The problem may be that the rega arm board is mounted on a SME one

Or may be me using the threaded fixings in the cart , There are 2 more fixings in the cart further forward ,

    DOH my head hurts

Lot to be said for getting a straightforward "plug and play" deck, the BSR MP60 springs to mind. Mine even had a double sided stylus, you could flip between LPs and 78s. What more could you want? And the square arm tube was super cool.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.
Speakers: Zu Omen Def, REL T9i subwoofer. Cables: Atlas Equator interconnects, Atlas Hyper 3.0 speaker cables

    T'other system:
Echo Dot, Amptastic Mini One,Arcam A75 integrated, Celestion 5's, BK XLS-200 DF

    A/V:
LG 55" OLED, Panasonic Blu Ray, Sony a/v amp, MA Radius speakers, REL Storm sub

Forget the past, it's gone. And don't worry about the future, it doesn't exist. There is only NOW.
