Sergio.
Yes, the Quad ELS 57s have some limitations/shortcomings/failures (depending on your viewpoint), but given the longevity of the design they were, and are, a remarkable achievement. If you have room for stacked pairs, that will go some way in ameliorating some of their shortcomings. Some have had success in using a sub-woofer to enhance the bass performance, but I couldn't get on with such an arrangement.
I have been using Quad 57s for about forty five years and am unlikely to change them now.

Well as you asked, I heard these at a friendly dealers (I think it was this model), they just blew me away the resolution, purity and musicality of the sound was profound, it sound like Eva Cassidy was stood in the room with her guitar, just stunning. I suppose they should be good at $100K. At the time they were driven with some serious Jadis pre and power amps with a SME 30/12 I think.
The system would be on my list if I won the lottery, maybe a different TT, I'd have to evaluate that one.
Having said that I think my system doesn't sound so far off, but I beat the dealer would whole heartedly disagree with me.
