Bit quiet so far Allen, maybe everyone else likes salad
My mate was diagnosed with type 2 a couple of years ago, and he reckons this medication he's on has made him intolerant of dairy. If he just had a bit of milk in a brew he'd immediately be running to the bog for a dump - the effect is instant. Same with beer too
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

I think this thread is a good idea, we probably have quite a few members with diabetes or who have diabetic family members.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
And could be very useful for those who have been recently diagnosed.

I was diagnosed with Type II several years ago and was put on Gliclazide. But since I never experienced a 'hypo' I was taken off it. I now manage things by being careful with my diet: watching the amount of saturated fat; sugar; salt and, alcohol. Plenty of fish, and starchy foods: pasta, rice and potatos, and plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit. With this regime, my blood sugar levels are the same as those of a normal healthy person (Hab1c < 40).

Forgive my ignorance, but does diabetes treatment involve several different medications, where certain ones work for some folk but have adverse effects for others? I don't know the name of what my mate takes, but I will find out. Maybe he needs to try an alternative (if there is one), as getting the shits from drinking one beer is no way to live...

Yes, there are several meds that can be prescribed. I think what is prescribed depends on the severity of the condition.
But if your friend has a problem with his meds, then he ought to discuss it with his GP.
