    Default Yamaha GO-44

No idea where to post this so here goes.
I am about to try a Chromecast Audio to see what streaming can do for me as I am now deaf in one ear and perhaps I should be placing convenience ahead of absolute SQ, only ever having always used vinyl which I used to copy onto CDs for use in my car. Anyway I used to have a Macbook where I used iTunes to store stuff on an ipod too. Twas then that I bought a 2nd hand Yamaha GO-44 interface which I used as a DAC to allow firewire connection from Macbook to my main system now and again and still have .
My question is, if anyone can remember the Yamaha, can it be used as a standalone DAC for use with the Chromecast ? Might it provide an improvement over the CCA itself ?

After poring over the owner´s manual on-line, I think I know the answer. It´s not a stand alone DAC because it goes on about drivers and the firewire connection. I´ll try a mate´s Beresford Caiman and take it from there.

Tell us about your success, did you manage to connect it as a standalone DAC?
