Sure, but Celtic would want their new manager in place well before then, if by the above you're talking about the Euros? The team needs rebuilt and up to speed, with the new guy in place, having sorted all that out, for the start of next season!

Fairy muff... I think you'll pump them. Won't be easy, but you've got enough in your locker, particularly at home, to get the job done. Won't be many teams left in the competition who'll relish coming to 'fortress Ibrox'!

Not sure I'd quite go that far, but they've certainly got a history of fannying about (whilst several boats have sailed away)!

Would Celtic take the risk and go for someone with track record as a manager and give him the time and money to rebuild, or try for a big name , most of whom are unlikely to come to Glasgow. The Preston manager might be a good shout, well thought of, but not won anything yet.

alex neil is that? he was touted as gers manager once fans i would say want, as marco says, hollywood. reality may well be a little lower, but who knows. its a big and prestegious job, and get it right and other jobs will open up.. aka rodgers

Exactly... The only 'downside' for any top manager [not mostly motivated by money], looking at the Celtic job, is the overall standard of the SPL, but there's always the guarantee of Champions League football (if we can maintain the current two spots), and if not, either one of the old firm teams will have it, and now with a proper challenge from Rangers, the attraction of the SPL is greater than before.

However, your last point, in terms of seeing it as a 'stepping stone' to potentially greater things, is key, and why someone such as Lampard or Howe could be tempted, as well as others. As I've said though, for this *specific appointment*, a big name is needed, and indeed will be demanded by the Celtic season ticket holders.

Also, the rebuilding job isn't a big as some make out. Defensively yes (although big Jullien will feature when he returns from injury), but the midfield is fine and upfront, once Edouard goes for BIG bucks, and some of the duds are sold, the money will be successfully reinvested, as Celtic have a long and established history of *always* having at least one great striker. Plus, I still feel Griffo has a role to play, as he's simply a born goalscorer and certainly not past it at the top level, so the arrival of a new manager (if he fancies him) may just be the thing to reignite his Celtic career.

Anyway, I'm perfectly relaxed about it all, as I could see all this coming, and am looking forward to the new changes and challenges ahead!

Indeed... We need to return to the days of 'Helicopter Sundays', when the title goes right down to the wire - *that* is when victory feels the sweetest and you really feel that you've won something!

Therefore, both teams need to always have a top manager at the helm, as well as the best players in the team.
