I have a Rega Planar 2, but I can get a Lenco L 78 for a good price. I don’t know if the Lenco might be an upgrade to the Planar 2, what you think?

What cart you got on your Planar 2?
Had one back in the day with both an AT95-E and Goldring G1042, it’s a great turntable.
I’d stay where you were and look to your cartridge.

I'm James.
The Lenco is capable of being rather better in my opinion, not that there is anything wrong with the Rega which is a solid, capable table. But attention is required to get Lencos to their best. So are you a fettler or a 'buy and forget' type?

The Rega does not compare to the Lenco. I've owned several of both and would choose the L78. Why not run the pair for a while and make your mind up?
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
I'd agree with Gazjam - try upgrading the cartridge first. His suggestions are good and won't break the bank. Also you can move the cartridge to the new deck if you end up changing that.
