    Default Calling all mattress testers!

Me and Mrs. P have decided that our stupidly expensive Tempur mattress is a bag of shite (not literally), and are looking at reasonably priced alternatives. I was considering IKEA (which is going to be £150 or so, and perhaps too cheap to be any good) or one of these 'buy online' Emma jobbies which just for today is offered at £400 and a bit, reduced from £700. Both mattresses did well with Which? magazine.

She only "sprung" the idea on me this morning, so it seems I don't have time to "sleep on it".
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

We have the IKEA mattress and it is nice and supportive.

There is a softer top layer so that makes it non reversible, so if you dribble in the night you are stuck with the stain on the top. Glad to help

We have the Emma mattress as was told it was the one to go for.

I wake up most mornings aching with my back and shoulders but then have suffered with a bad back for years. The wife also says she doesn’t have the best of nights sleep on it so we need to start looking elsewhere.

Interestingly we were considering a Tempur but looks like you’ve just put that idea to bed....

Agree about Tempur - too hot, disturbed sleep, got rid after a couple of months.

We replaced with one of these:

I like it a great deal, turn every now and then to keep in good condition

Well, let's face it, rarely do you 'spring' anything on her in the morning, afternoon or evening... At least anything that stays upright for long!

    Anyway, here: https://www.mattressonline.co.uk/Pro...e=size-uk-king

1200 bones for a king size mattress! No doubt it's a superb mattress, in the same way that Aston Martin make superb cars. Obviously it's going to be comfortable, judging by how many hours you spend in it, and I bet it looks spiffing with the laura Ashley rubber sheet and matching hot water bottles, but my budget won't stretch to that, not even close.

Ithink we've decided to go for the IKEA mattress, as endorsed by Alan Firebottle. He clearly gets some quality beauty sleep on it, the handsome devil Surely it can't be that good? "Yes it really is, and don't call me Shirley". Said Shirley

Is there much difference tempur and emma ? i suppose buying an emma you can send it back if you don`t like it .

personally i would have to try a mattress in the showroom , we bought a nice silentnight mattress recently for 250 online for family member as had no alternative with covid and its very good
ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven

Don't let nobody turn you around
… Walk with the rich, walk with the poor
Learn from everyone, that's what life is for
And don't you let nobody drag your spirit down

Yes the Emma has a 200 night return policy, and the return would cost you nothing, which is nice. I wonder what they do with the returned ones?

We tried our Tempur bed in the showroom before buying, and it seemed great. No way of predicting the 'overheating' though, and that's a big issue with me. I would get too warm, even in winter, throw the quilt off, then the cold air made me get up for a pee. For a sound night's sleep it did not make
