    Default Hello from Porto, Portugal

I am glad to join this community!

My list of things includes the following stuff:

    TEAC Reference 500 set:
1 x A-H500 Integrated Stereo Amplifier (mine from new for 20 years, will be for sale when 500i arrives)
1 x A-H500i Integrated Stereo Amplifier (currently being modded/upgraded by AmpKing in London)
    1 x AV-H500 AV Surround*Amplifier (for sale)
    1 x MD-H500i Minidisc Deck (for sale?)
2 x PD-H500 Compact Disc Player (1 mine from new for 20 years, will be for sale when 500i arrives, 1 for sale)
2 x PD-H500i Compact Disc Player (1 currently being modded/upgraded by AmpKing in London, 1 for sale)
1 x R-H500 Stereo Cassette Deck (for sale?)
    3 x T-H500 AM/FM Stereo Tuner (2 are for sale)

    1 x ProJect RPM 1.1 turntable with Goldring E3 MM (+ 1 Ortofon OMB 3E for sale)
1 x Technics SL-5 linear arm turntable with Technics cartridge

2 x Dali 350 floorstand speakers with spikes (sound great but I'd love to upgrade for solid wood (walnut or rosewood) floorstanders - Proac, Ruark, Opera, Spendor, ...)
    1 x Tannoy M2 b/eye (looking for 1 to complete the pair)
1 x Tannoy MR b/eye (looking for 1 to complete the pair) - I misread the model and bought it thinking it was the pair for the M2, stupid me!

QED Qudos Silver Anniversary speaker cables
    QED RCA interconnects all over

    1x 40" LG UHD TV
1 x Yamaha YAS-306 surround bar (just to some avoid the crappy TV sound)
1 x Yamaha DVD-840 compact DVD player (rarely used!)
1 x Denon DVD-1730 (just serviced, fitted new laser unit, for sale)

My music taste is eclectic: a lot of jazz, many singer/songwriters, a good lot of american folk, a bunch of triphop, funk/R&B, bossa nova, Beatles and Beach Boys, classical and even a bit of opera

That's it for the moment, I hope to find interesting people and their items around here.
    Cheers,
    Diogo

Hi Diogo, you clearly don't seem to like Teac stuff very much

You have a lot of kit there, most of us have that much but we wouldn't admit it.

I like a lot of Jazz and Funk. What are you like listening to?

    Welcome and have fun here.

    Rob.

    Hi Rob,
You are right, I love those small beauties.
What am I listening to? Bill Evans, Art Farmer, Cannonball Adderley, Milt Jackson, MJQ, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, to name just a few.
And lady singers: Cassandra Wilson, Billie Holiday, and Nina Simone
Joćo Gilberto, the master of Bossa Nova, and his followers
American indie folk: Bon Iver, Ray Lamontagne; and other genres like Lambchop, Calexico, ...
Plus Bach and Mozart and Rachmaninoff
Many different music types require a versatile system; my humble Teac does the job very well for the money.
I am very curious to receive my modded 500i and start looking for a pair of beautiful solid wood speakers.
    What about your listenings?
    Cheers,
    Diogo

Hi Diogo, I am currently into what some would call weirdish Jazz. Artists from Norway, Sweden, Germany....maybe it's the cold weather that IMO gives a somewhat eerie quality to their music. Nils Petter Molvaer, Lars Dannielson, Bugge Wesseltoft, Wolfgang Haffner and others. Some of their albums are a clever mix of Jazz and Electronica.

Other mixes of Jazz/Funk/Electronica I like are Alien Chatter - Music For Aliens, Miles-Gurtu (No title to it. An album by Robert Miles and Trilok Gurtu)

I also Like a bit Dub. Bill Laswell's stuff is often a mix of Jazz/Dub/Electronica. Check out his Ambient Translations of Bob Marley album.
