    Default Hello From Rotoua NZ

    Hello all,

Had the bug, but not necessarily the money, since teenage years in England.
Now in NZ listening to all sorts of rock, recently more progressive and a lot more jazz.
Using A turntable, phono amp, pre amp, power amp, Cd player, laptop, small dac, speakers, PC and headphones.
Not all at the same time obviously We are all jammed into a small house, with wife and cats, so all's good!
Looking at doing some simple diy kits too.

    Welcome Peter,
I was in NZ in November last year, and visited the Tamaki Maori Village near you. Loved it in NZ. Pretty sure we drove through Rotorua, past the hot springs.

Feel free to join in and get to know everybody.

    Enjoy the forum,

It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

    Hi Peter,

Welcome to the AoS club, nice to see another prog fan, there are one or two of us on here. The https://theartofsound.net/forum/show...t-Now-(Part-3) is very good for finding new stuff to listen to, also https://theartofsound.net/forum/foru...z-n-Blues-Club. They are both rather long with over 1500 pages to the first, but there have been some interesting listening posts over the last few months. what gear do you have?

We visited NZ for 7 weeks about 15 years ago, with a view to emigrating, I had a sponsored job offer in Wellington, but it did not work out as the company changed to goal posts once I arrived there. So we finished the trip and came home. We visited Roturua and many other places when we were in NZ, and loved it.

    Cheers

    Adrian
Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

I visited NZ for a day (in transit) back in November 1993. By chance, England were playing NZ at Twickenham so I stayed up late for the match. NZ were very confident of victory and I recall the total shock (and grief) of commentators when England secured victory. I got a very frosty reception at passport control when I flew out the next day.

BTW. Had chance for a much longer visit subsequently and did mega road tour of both North and South Islands.

I'm guessing your equipment runs on the fumes there?
Yes, I've been! several times over past 25 years as my wife's son is now there and other relatives; mainly Maunganui now, but all over, over the years.
Prog rock? !! surely not? (-:
    Enjoy the AOS.
