I would suggest you discuss the design parameters with Colin first.....

    Damping Factor 100 - 600

    Class A P/P up to 30KHz, then class A/B

    Sliding dynamic bias system

    There you go.

Ok, had to get that clear, and nothing wrong with sliding bias, it is very often done and makes a great deal of sense. Imagine a 50+50 class A amp, producing about 222W of heat.

I am not wanting to 'thread crap' just seeking clarity.

Class A up to 30kHz? Really? Usually a sliding bias amp is quoted as Class A up to a given power O/P level, not a frequency, for example an ATC SIA2 is class A up to 10W O/P.

I was intrigued by the specs myself but wanted to keep out of a for sale thread. But since it's been withdrawn I'll say what I found, I hope you don't mind Ian.

The below thread says that it is the driver stage that is pure class A, and mentions 1W. That doesn't seem to match other specs though, but it would explain the cool running. Perhaps Colin could be kind enough to explain to what extent the amp runs in class A in power terms rather than frequency terms (which I agree I've never seem quoted before).

NB everything I read about it says it sounds great, it's just a shame the discussion got distracted by technical specs rather than the SQ.
